Learn about Farmers Nick & April Patterson as they share their love and passion for agriculture, being stewards of the land, and caretakers of their animals. We love what we do and take seriously the following three core values: sustainability, servanthood, and stewardship. The story of Acres of Grace Farms started in April of 2011. Nick Patterson was working as an associate veterinarian at a mixed animal rural veterinary clinic in Celina, Tennessee. April Smith brought in a Bassett hound named Roscoe that had a hurt foot. It really was the cliche “love at first sight” – not only for April & Nick but for Roscoe too. Nick doctored and cared for Roscoe’s foot getting him back to health while simultaneously Nick & April began their relationship after many additional visits to vet with Roscoe. ;) In June 2012 the two tied the knot and were married in the sight of God. Now the two work together in April’s family businesses where they both work together to help continue to employee the 150 folks in rural Moss, Tennessee. All of our Akaushi Beef are raised on our farm in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee. Our cattle are fed a high forage diet and haylage we raise on our farm that is packed full of all natural proteins. Our cattle live peacefully on fields of green pastures and are nurtured by owner and veterinarian, Dr. Nick Patterson, so you can rest assured they have received the best care possible. The focus of our row crop operation is corn, soybeans and occasionally wheat or small grains. These are the main row crops grown in our area due to our climate, weather patterns and available markets. Eggs are gathered and offered for sale through our brick and mortar store, The Mill Storehouse, during the spring, summer and for most of the fall months. Currently the chickens we have are araucanas (blue egg laying chickens), rhode island reds, barred rocks, leghorns, wyandottes, red stars, brahmas and many others. We devote quite a bit of time and energy to be highly involved in the TN Farm Bureau. This would include Nick currently serving as the chairman of the Clay County Young Farmers & Ranchers. The Farms are involved in Farm Bureau's YF&R programs, and for 2017 Nick served on the resolutions committee for the statewide TN Farm Bureau. “You cause the grass to grow for the livestock and plants for man to cultivate, that he may bring forth food from the earth.” – Psalms 104:14
