Home to Tennessee art, history and culture, the Tennessee State Museum is designed to bring history to life. Beginning with "The Tennessee Time Tunnel," a chronological survey of the state’s history, visitors are invited to explore exhibitions that delve into Tennessee’s geological beginnings; First Peoples; statehood and impact on the nation; pivotal role in The Civil War and Reconstruction; place in the Women’s Suffrage and Civil Rights movements and more. It’s an adventure – through art and artifacts, films, interactive displays and events – that encompasses 13,000 years of history. Located in the heart of Nashville, at the corner of Rosa Parks Boulevard and Jefferson Street, the new Museum sits at the foot of Capitol Hill, overlooks Bicentennial Mall State Park and offers one of the best views of the Nashville skyline. There is no admission charge for visitors and free parking is also located near the Museum.
