The Doe Mountain Recreation Area consists of more than 8,600 acres of rugged mountain wilderness, just outside the aptly-named town of Mountain City, Tennessee in the heart of Appalachia. More than 60 miles of multi-use trails accommodate ATV, UTV (Side by Side) and dirt bike riders, in addition to a growing network of foot and mountain bike trails.
Recently named on of Northeast Tennessee’s Top Trail Towns, Mountain City sits halfway between Boone, North Carolina and Bristol, Tennessee. Visitors will be rewarded with panoramic views off the 60-foot historic Kettlefoot Fire Lookout Tower, standing high atop Doe Mountain at 3,889 feet ASL.
The trails are open daily from sunrise to sunset, with several local outlets offering permits in addition to the Adventure Center at 1203 Harbin Hill Road.
