Rockabilly Highway Mural

Painted by Nashville artist Brian Tull to commemorate when US Highway 45 South was christened as “Rockabilly Highway,” this mural pays homage to McNairy County’s rockabilly roots, and has become an inspiration to visitors and locals alike.

After you take a selfie in front of the mural, explore downtown Selmer. Try a slugburger, made from ground meat and flour, soy grits or another extender. It’s a delicacy here in West Tennessee that will have you coming back for more. Head to the Sheriff Buford Pusser Home & Museum to learn about the legendary sheriff made famous through several major motion pictures. See the original furnishings of his home, photos, cars, guns and other memorabilia. Explore nearby Big Hill Pond State Park that has a variety of hiking and mountain biking trails, fishing on the 165-acre Travis McNatt Lake, 14 miles of horseback riding trails and 4, 138 acres of timberland and hardwood bottomland, perfect to see a variety of woodland birds. Bald eagles make their homes at Cypress Creek and Tuscumbia River which borders the state park. Keep your eyes sharp and you may just see one.
