On Saturday, September 28, East Tennessee Award Winning Songwriter Mitch Townley will host a Songwriter Round at the fabulous Vienna Coffee House in Maryville , TN. Mitch’s original songs have been featured in documentaries and network television shows such as ABC’s “Nashville”. His song ”This Side Of Sunday” was recently honored as the 2018 ICMA “Inspirational Song Of The Year”. Joining Mitch for this evening of original Country, Folk, Americana and Gospel songs will be Edgar Allen Lee and Karen Bowles This free, family friendly event starts at 6:00pm. 212 College St. Maryville, TN
Edgar Allen Lee was born and raised in the beautiful Sequatchie Valley of East Tennessee. Growing up in the Southern Cumberland Mountain region of Tennessee exposed Edgar at an early age to a rich tradition of Appalachian Mountain Music. His grandfather was a fiddler and his father was an excellent buck dancer, spoon player, and storyteller. Edgar's songs & stories take you back in time to a simpler way of life. One listener wrote, "The quality of the recording is superb -- so pure & authentic. Love the song arrangement, the narration .... you put a lot of heart & soul into this project, brother." Karen Bowles is a songwriter-singer. As a frustrated guitarist she turned to the baritone ukulele and found true love. Karen was born in Jamestown Tn. As a child Karen remembers eating at the Mark Twain Inn and hearing about the famous writer’s life and stories.Karen’s family moved to Sevierville Tennessee where she fell in love with writing and using her imagination to create stories and melodies.Karen has worked for Dolly Parton at the local radio station WSEV-WDLY. Karen was known as “Karen Coulter, Sevier County’s Lady DJ.” Karen was cast as an extra in Dolly Parton’s 1990 Christmas Special, “Home For Christmas”and also had the opportunity to work for Louise Mandrell at the Louise Mandrell Theater in as a video technician. Karen writes gospel, country, bluegrass, blues and children’s music. Karen is a member of the Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) and is on the board of The Knoxville Songwriters Association.
