Blue Plum Festival

The Blue Plum Festival, held the first weekend of June, has become one of the South's largest free outdoor music and arts festivals. Multiple genres of music are featured on three different stages throughout the weekend event that also includes food and craft vendors in the blocked-off streets of downtown.

Other activities include the Annual Urban Art Throw-down featuring the best aerosol graffiti artists in the southeast laying down their images on suspended 6' x 8' canvases. An animation festival and craft beer sampling round out the fun. There's also a 5k Blue Plum fast walk and run, the Johnson City Omnium bike race, a roller derby and corn hole tournament. And for the kids, there's a safe place just for them that includes fun activities including the popular Water Wars.

The name, Blue Plum Festival, is in honor of the 1800s rural post office serving an area in East Tennessee that would become known as Johnson City.

Every year an estimated 80,000 people converge in the Blue Plum Village area of shops, galleries and restaurants to enjoy music, arts, food and lots of fun.
