Officially known as the Ned R. McWherter West Tennessee Cultural Arts Center, locals simply refer to the building as “The Ned,” the place to see the finest musical and stage acts in an intimate, high-technology equipped performance space.
The Ned provides a quality staging area of over 2,200 square feet and an advanced pulley system for any type of stage production. Special lighting can be created for the theatre, and a superior sound system and perfect acoustics highlights any performer.
In addition to the 440-seat theatre, the cultural center houses two art galleries for traveling and local exhibits. Gallery space and meeting rooms are available for receptions, weddings, seminars and dinners.
Other facilities include nicely appointed restrooms and dressing rooms. Adjacent off-street parking is available. The Ned is in full compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.
Tickets can be purchased in the building’s main office from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The Ned's Box Office is open day-of-show in the lobby.
Live shows have featured a wide variety of musical and stage stars, including Kathy Mattea, Hal Holbrook, Don McLean, Marc Cohn, Jim Brickman, Eileen Ivers, A. J. Croce, Dave Mason, the Vienna Boys Choir and the Blind Boys of Alabama.
