The annual Junkin' & Jam TM event, an evening of shopping and dining in downtown Dyersburg, far exceeds what you might expect in a rural downtown on a Friday night. The sight of more than 1,000 people shopping, dining, walking the streets of downtown, and enjoying a beautiful Autumn night out, is truly a wonderful sight to see. With more than 25 retail locations open late, five restaurants to choose from and several food trucks scattered throughout for dining, there is something for everyone to enjoy at Junkin' & Jam. Live music at several locations adds to the joy you’ll experience at the event. Pumpkin carving for families, sweet-treats to enjoy for dessert, museums and photo murals are all just a few of the fun things you can enjoy at Junkin' & Jam.
More than 1,000 shoppers and diners each year, from each of the counties surrounding Dyer County and from as far as three states nearby, create a boost to the local economy through Junkin' & Jam. With combined sales from the event reaching over $20,000 on Friday night alone, Junkin' & Jam merchants consider the annual event wildly important to their businesses and to the community.
"Collaboration is key to success in small-business growth and sustainability," says Maleia Evans, co-founder of Junkin' & Jam and co-owner of The Restoration Station Marketplace. "The merchants who participate in Junkin' & Jam are by far some of the greatest in planning events and these merchants are so passionate about this community and the revitalization of downtown. On Friday night of Junkin&Jam, we come together to show the community our passion for downtown life and how much this community has to offer," Evans continued.
Junkin' & Jam co-founder Anthony Evans comments, "Working together, we all win, the local economy wins, and more importantly the community wins by having something really fun to do in downtown. It’s an event you don’t want to miss."
Lisa Scott, owner of The Way We Were Antiques & Resale, and Junkin' & Jam participating merchant, coins it best when she says, "It’s a big junkin', boutique’n, dinin’ deal!". And, it is!
