Located in downtown Crossville, Tennessee, the Historic Palace Theatre first opened in 1938 and served for nearly 40 years as Crossville's only movie theater. After closing its doors in 1978 and falling into decay, the City of Crossville purchased the property in the early 1990s. It was nearly demolished, but a group of committed citizens rallied and undertook a massive fundraising effort. After being named to the National Register of Historic Places in 1994, all that hard work paid off and the Palace Theatre was restored and reopened in 2001 as a community theater. From piano recitals to beauty pageants to fantastic live concerts, and of course movies, the Palace remains the jewel of Main Street and is thriving in its original Art Deco style. Artists love to perform at the venue because of the wonderful acoustics, and patrons flock to its events because of the friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The Palace Theatre is open year-round and always has a full calendar. It's open Tuesday through Friday, 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and all visitors are welcome!
