The Don F. Pratt Museum tells the history of vertical envelopment (Airborne Warfare), the 101st Airborne Division, the 11th Airborne Division, 5th Special Forces Group, the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment and other units that are stationed at Ft. Campbell.
The Pratt Museum is a self-guided tour where the first exhibit is a diorama of BG William Bowen Campbell, a great American hero from Tennessee for whom the post is named.
The Pratt Museum is designed to bring the visitor through the history of the post and the units from 1942 until the present day. The main focus on the Museum is of course the 101st Airborne Division the major unit assigned to Ft. Campbell.
The Pratt Museum is named for BG Don F. Pratt who was the assistant Division Commander who died leading the glider element into Normandy on D-Day. BG Pratt was an outstanding if quiet leader who helped train the 101st and prepared it for combat, along with MG Lee, our first Division Commander.
The Pratt Museum exhibits include an original WACO CG-4A glider, a variety of armor from WWII, and an extensive collection of aircraft used in vertical envelopment ranging from the WWII C-47 to the UH-60 "Blackhawk" helicopter.
The hours of the Pratt Museum are Monday-Friday 10-4. On Thursdays the Museum hours are 10-1, with Soldier training being conducted in the Museum on Thursday afternoons. The Museum is closed on all Federal Holidays. The Museum is closed on Saturday and Sunday as well as all Federal Holidays. Due to Covid-19 the museum is limited to 75 visitors inside the building at any one time. Masks are required to be worn inside the building. The Museum has a gift shop with the same hours as the Museum and an outdoor memorial park with aircraft and captured enemy heavy weapons.
Open Thursday from 10-1 with Thursday afternoons being reserved for soldier training at the Museum.
