A secluded log cabin across a gentle creek where no one knows you are home except the turkeys and deer. Relax in your private hot tub under the stars surrounded by mountains, trees and silence.
Three bedrooms and 2.5 baths which sleep 6. The first floor bedroom is handicapped accessible with a roll in shower and bars for the toilet.
The gated wrap around deck contains large dogs and small children means mom and dad may enjoy the hot tub while the dogs and kids race around the wide deck on bikes or skateboards. Or, just across the creek is 1000' of paved driveway going up the mountain.
And speaking of going up the mountain, there is a hiking trail which will take you into the Cherokee National Forest and then climb up to the Appalachial Trail which is on top of the mountain behind the Chalet. It gets pretty steep, but once on top, you can then hike hike out (7 miles) to a road crossing where you will have left one of your cars. Stop and say "hi" to Nick Grindstaff when you see his monument.
The Chalet is just above Watauga Lake for swimming, boating (canoe, kayak, pontoon), fishing and picnicing. Bring your boat (there is a free boat launch about 15 minutes away) or rent one from one of the nearby marinas.
Other sections of the Appalachian Trail are close by as are lots of waterfalls to hike to on a hot summer day.
