Columbia's Athenaeum flourished from 1852 to 1904 as a school which taught girls everything a well-educated young man would have learned at the time, including physics and calculus. The Rectory is the last remaining building of the famed, well-respected Columbia Athenaeum. The Moorish Gothic architecture of the Rectory sets it apart from all other buildings in the area. The interior of the home has been newly renovated and boasts beautiful flashed glass with gold dust in its construction, a lovely cast iron fountain, and an original chandelier. Changing exhibits are featured in the home throughout the year.
