Where to stay

Commodore Hotel

National Bank

The oldest building in the downtown area, the bank can currently sleep 7 people, perfect for a girlfriend getaway or bachelorette party. Families can stay in one spacious room for more quality time. Measuring more than 1,200 square feet, the room is home to historical details in the original, restored woodwork. Be transported to another time with its 14-ft. ceilings and 7-ft. windows that allow the sunlight to dance on the original hardwood flooring.

Shopping

Walk around the charming downtown area and marvel at the many murals painted around downtown as part of the beautification process spurred on by Perry County Council of the Arts. Step into their store-front for a look at the works of as many as 12 local artists ranging from painting, glass blowing, woodwork, spinning and weaving.

Other shops include Sparkey & Ringo's, a boutique that carries relaxed fashion choices. Stop in and say hi to Terry, a New York state-native and owner of Custom Creations, a store that carries exquisite jewelry Terry makes by hand. You can easily spend hours looking closely at the fine jewelry from pendants to engagement rings and men's jewelry.  

Fishing

Since Linden is located near the Buffalo River and the Tennessee River, fishing is abundant in its many waterways. The Clifton Marina offers boat rentals ranging from 50 mph to 85 mph with rates going for $150-$185. Boats get rented out quickly, so if you’re planning for spring or summer, make sure to book as soon as possible. 

Hiking

With Mousetail Landing State Park and Lady's Bluff Nature Trail a quick drive away, you can enjoy a fitness getaway in Linden's backyard. Five trails weave through Mousetail from easy to difficult. The longest hiking trail is Eagle Point Trail at eight miles along natural surfaces. 

Lady's Bluff takes its guests along an easy to moderate hike among the bluffs as they climb to the top for breathtaking views of the Tennessee River.

Commodore Cafe

Southern comfort food is the norm in the European-styled café inside The Commodore Hotel. Choose from succulent dishes like chicken marsala, a ribeye steak with baked potato and vegetables, or buttermilk fried chicken that is marinated in buttermilk, battered and fried in-house. Have a signature drink across the way at the Speakeasy bar across the way that specializes in signature cocktails like The Commodore: vodka, lemon and lime, and a dash of blue curacao or the Skittlez which tastes just like candy. Sip on Elvis' Pink Cadillac: a dash of cranberry, orange liqueur and tequila.

Dimple's

Walk over to this cute restaurant with its eclectic collection of historic artifacts and trinkets for children. The menu boasts fresh fruit salad, a selection of sandwiches, salads, and Dimpleccino's: frozen coffee drinks in chocolate, caramel and turtle flavors.
