Rock City

Ready to see Rock City? This natural botanical rock garden features more than 400 native plant species, plus a variety of winding pathways and ancient rock formations. Visitors can experience a cascading waterfall, Fairyland Caverns and cross the famous Swing-A-Long Bridge, a suspended bridge that leads to Lover’s Leap. Once you get there, you’ll be treated to the famous See Seven States view, where, from this point, you can see Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia and Alabama. The views are stunning year-round, but fall is a favorite among visitors.

Ruby Falls

Celebrating 96 years of wonder, Ruby Falls is home to the tallest underground waterfall open to the public in the U.S. and is perfect for nature-lovers of all ages. Visitors descend 260 feet deep into Lookout Mountain using a glass-front elevator as transportation. From there, guests explore the scenic cavern path to the underground waterfall on a guided walk, plus learn about the cave’s history, see ancient geological formations and experience the waterfall light show. Ruby Falls has breathtaking views of the Cumberland Plateau from scenic overlooks, award-winning events throughout the year and luxury treehouse lodging.

Incline Railway

Give yourself at least an hour to ride the Incline Railway at Lookout Mountain – one of the steepest passenger railways in the world with grades up to 72.7%. Using a pulley and steel cable system called a funicular, the railway takes visitors from the base of the mountain to the top. Once there, take in the scenery while learning about the history of the Incline, which has been carrying passengers since 1895. Visitors can also walk to Point Park, which is part of the Chickamauga and Chattanooga National Military Park, showcasing videos and murals about the Battles for Chattanooga. After the ride down, explore the charming and historic town of St. Elmo.
