Tennessee River Museum

Everyone who visits Savannah should visit the Tennessee River Museum and learn about the history of the Tennessee River Valley. The tour starts at pre-historic life and takes you into post-war reconciliation with exhibits on Paleontology, Archaeology, Pioneers, Trail of Tears, War on the River, the Golden Age of Steamboats, Musseling, Early Crossings and War and Remembrance. The exhibits take about an hour to go through and includes such interesting storytelling with insightful information. You’ll enjoy diving into this historic treasure.

Pickwick Landing State Park

There’s nothing better than going to a beautiful park on a brisk day. Located on Pickwick Lake, the Pickwick Landing State Park prides itself on its excellent water recreation. You’ll see plenty of visitors fishing, boating and hiking. The park also has cabins, camping and an inn if you want to stay and enjoy a weekend at the park. If you want to enjoy a stroll, travel along the Island Loop Trail, a nice, leisurely 2.8-mile trail.

Savannah Theater

Try to go to the Savannah Theater, which has been beautifully restored, for a show. The theater was first known as the Churchwell Picture Show which opened in 1931 with “A Connecticut Yankee” starring Will Rogers. The name was changed to the Savannah Theater in 1978 where it mainly showed films. Now, it plays host to events, plays and live music. If your schedule doesn’t allow, you can still take in its gorgeous exterior when you stroll Main Street.
